What is Remittance Mail?
Remittance Mail includes mail like bills, statements, and payments. It’s the largest segment of First-Class Mail® volume.

Who uses it?
Financial institutions, credit card companies, and retailers trust USPS® to provide timely and secure delivery of their Remittance Mail to their customers. Most Remittance Mail is pre-barcoded Courtesy Reply Mail™, which is easily processed through our automated systems.

Remittance Mail Advisory Committee (RMAC)
Working with the industry through the Remittance Mail Advisory Committee (RMAC), our efforts to improve handling of Remittance Mail are ongoing.

RMAC includes remittance industry and Postal Service® representatives. Together, we work collaboratively to provide recommendations for improving mail processing performance and consistency, as well as meeting emerging needs in the remittance industry. This committee represents a broad cross-section of stakeholders in the remittance industry, including major players in banking, telecommunications, insurance, and Remittance Mail processors. It also includes the top trade association and performance research firm, Phoenix-Hecht.

Site Coordinators serve as a point of contact for the dissemination of remittance related information to the appropriate local remittance mail advisory committees who coordinate logistics.

Area Remittance Mail Coordinators serve as a point of contact for the dissemination of remittance-related information to the appropriate marketing field personnel, including the District Marketing Managers and Business Service Network Managers.

Local Remittance Mail Council
Many districts and plants have established Remittance Mail Councils (RMCs) comprised of local banks, financial institutions, billers, remittance processors, and postal representatives that meet on a regular basis to discuss concerns, share information, and exchange ideas.

Mailer’s Technical Advisory Committee (MTAC)
The Postmaster General's Mailers' Technical Advisory Committee (MTAC) is a venue for the United States Postal Service® to share technical information with mailers and to receive their advice and recommendations on matters concerning mail-related products and services.
