Q. Cassetti, a Pittsburgh native, graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1979 with a degree in graphic design. She worked as a corporate communications designer until 1997 when she opened her own business, Luckystone Partners, a branding and design consulting firm located in New York State's Finger Lakes region.
In 2005, Cassetti went back to school to study illustration; she graduated with an M.A. from Syracuse University in 2007. Two years later she earned another degree, an M.F.A. from the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford. Combining her skills as a designer with her love of illustration, Cassetti created a style influenced by the arts of woodcut, cut-paper, and silkscreen, among others. She is especially inspired by the motifs and symbols of folk art from global cultures of past and present.
