National Retail Stores

An Approved Postal Provider® could be an independent retail outlet such as a grocery store or an office supply store. Most retail outlets are open when the Post Office is closed. All providers sell stamp booklets. Some have mail drop-off boxes or can help you ship a package.

Self–Service Kiosks

A few kiosks are in large shopping malls. Most are in Post Office lobbies and are available when the Post Office counter is closed. You can buy stamps, weigh packages, and print Priority Mail® and Priority Mail Express® shipping labels at kiosks. Bring packing tape and you can ship your items in our free boxes.

Collection Mailboxes

Most collection boxes are the familiar USPS Blue Collection Boxes you see around your community. Some collection boxes inside office buildings may look different.

Village Post Offices

A Village Post Office™ sells a limited selection of Postal products and services. Village Post Offices are not stand-alone buildings but areas within existing businesses such as a store or library.

Contract Postal Units (CPUs)

CPUs are located within existing businesses. While not stand-alone Post Offices, CPUs provide a full range of USPS retail products and services at regular USPS prices.

Greeting Card Services

If you need cards in a hurry, some Post Offices sell postage paid greeting and holiday cards. The Post Office Locator shows which locations sell greeting cards.

Passports

Some Post Office locations take passport pictures and accept first-time passport applications. If you are renewing your passport, you can mail it directly to the State Department. Use a free Priority Mail® or Priority Mail Express® envelope if you want to track your passport to the passport facility.
