Program Objectives

The main objective of the three-year Supplier Diversity Corporate Plan is to ensure a continued focus on - and improvement in - our relationships with small, minority-owned and women-owned businesses (SMWOBs).

Program Policy

The Postal ServiceTM makes it a policy to establish and maintain a strong competitive supplier base that reflects the diversity of American culture. We focus on the entire American business community when searching for quality equipment, supplies, and services for our operational needs. Therefore, SMWOBs are integral to our supplier base. Supplier Diversity is the proactive business process that seeks to provide all suppliers with equal access to purchasing and business opportunities…no suppliers are excluded from competition on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, or national origin (Purchasing Manual 3.2.1.b).

Performance Expectations

All United States Postal Service® employees responsible for generating requirements, approving purchases, committing postal funds, identifying or selecting suppliers, and managing supplier relationships must be accountable for meeting our Supplier Diversity objectives for all contracts and purchases as outlined in this plan.
