Priority Mail® is used for documents, gifts, merchandise, and any mailable item weighing 70 pounds or less. The maximum size is 108 inches or less in combined length and distance around the thickest part. Mark each package "Priority Mail" in the postage area or use a USPS-provided Priority Mail envelope or box.
Features
Priority Mail service offers two- to three-day service to most domestic destinations. Priority Mail envelopes and boxes are available at many Post Offices and can be ordered online at The Postal Store. You can even print your own Priority Mail labels and postage with Click-N-Ship®.
The Zone Chart Program provides a one-page zone chart for your origin ZIP Code.

Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes
Any mailable item sent in a Priority Mail Flat Rate box provided by the Postal Service, regardless of weight (up to a 70-pound maximum) or destination. Flat Rate Boxes are available in several different size and shape options.
Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box
Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box is 12" x 12" x 5.5" and is 50% larger than other Flat Rate boxes.
Priority Mail APO/FPO Large Flat Rate Box
Priority Mail APO/FPO Large Flat Rate Box has the same dimensions as Large Flat Rate box, and is for active Military members.
Priority Mail Flat Rate Box
Priority Mail Flat Rate Box is 11.875" x 3.375" x 13.625". Resembles a shirt box.
Priority Mail Flat Rate Box
Priority Mail Flat Rate Box is 11" x 8.5" x 5.5". Resembles a shoe box.
Priority Mail "Balloon Rate"
Parcels addressed for delivery to zones 1-4 (including local) that weigh less than 20 pounds but measure more than 84 inches in combined length and girth (but not more than 108 inches) are charged the applicable rate for a 20-pound parcel (balloon rate).
Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope
Any mailable item sent in a Priority Mail Flat Rate envelope provided by the Postal Service, regardless of weight or destination.
Dimensional Weighting
Parcels addressed for delivery to zones 5-8 that exceed 1 cubic foot (1,728 cubic inches) are charged based on the actual weight or the dimensional weight (as calculated in 123.1.4), whichever is greater.
