Postal Style
Form, function, and fashion found in Postal Service™ uniforms.
Free mail delivery in large cities began in 1863, but no official uniforms were worn until after July 27, 1868, when Congress passed legislation authorizing use of uniforms by letter carriers.

Over the years uniforms were modified for practical purposes and as styles shifted. Badges, patches, and other insignia also evolved.

Changing postal styles offer one of the best visual histories of the Postal Service.
