The following is a list of Postmasters General, under the names of those who appointed them. Dates prior to 1900 are the dates the Postmasters General were appointed or commissioned. Dates after 1900 are the dates the Postmasters General took office. All appointments by the President were made with the advice and consent of the Senate. Italics indicate a carryover from the previous administration.
