The Business. Working with technology providers and product developers, our mission is innovative solutions that better serve customers. The Postal Service provides oversight through evaluation and authorization of the products and services.

The Technology. A new direction with an improved security baseline and new product offerings was launched with the Information Based Indicia (IBI). IBI is the new look in digital postage. An Illustration is shown below.

The Indicia (Digital Postage Mark)
Illustration of the Indicia (Digital Post Mark). Like stamps and meter impressions, Information Based Indicia (IBI) indicate postage payment and is printed in the upper right hand corner of an envelope or label for envelope or package. IBI contains human readable information, as well as a 2-dimensional machine-readable barcode that includes required data for reliable mail delivery.
