Travel manager of the year

Count e-Travel among the year's best in electronic breakthroughs. Government Executive magazine has named the Postal Service's electronic travel voucher system, eTravel, Travel Manager of the Year.

The award is given annually to only six government agencies for outstanding achievements in travel management.

A five-member USPS team consisting of Information Technology and Finance experts reengineered off-the-shelf software to automate USPS travel expense reporting.

They successfully transformed the hardcopy system into a paperless process that is producing verifiable savings and faster, more accurate travel reimbursements. USPS travel card delinquencies have been cut in half.

eTravel is now used for more than 80% of USPS travel. Way to transform! Chief Technology Officer Bob Otto accepted the award on behalf of the Postal Service June 2.

Moving made easy
Online change-of-address at MoversGuide

WASHINGTON — Moving can be a challenging experience. Packing, unpacking, decorating, etc. — it all can be so overwhelming.

That's why USPS is helping customers take the stress out of moving (well, at least some of it) with the MoversGuide on USPS.com. Customers can change their address online. The guide offers all kinds of moving-related tips, products and services.

"Using the online MoversGuide is fast, easy and secure," said Charles Bravo, Senior Vice President, Intelligent Mail and Address Quality. "We encourage customers to submit their address changes electronically to expedite both the address change and mail forwarding processes."

Last year USPS processed 44 million changes-of-address. Nearly 30% of these changes occurred during the summer — prime moving season. USPS spends more than $1.9 billion annually processing undeliverable-as-addressed mail including letters and flats that are forwarded when customers move.

To visit the MoversGuide site, go to www.usps.com and click "Change Address" at the top of the screen. The site lets customers create customized moving checklists, change local and long-distance phone companies and forward magazine subscriptions to avoid missing an issue.
