FRAUD AWARENESS. Actress Betty White will be featured in Public Service Announcements during the week of Aug. 25 for National Fraud Against Senior Citizens Awareness Week. The campaign is being promoted by USPS, the Postal Inspection Service, the Federal Trade Commission and the Senior Action Coalition. She will also participate, via satellite, in a national press conference Monday, Aug. 26, with PMG Jack Potter and other officials.

new 37-cent Love stampLOVE IN ATLANTIC CITY. USPS will issue two new Love stamps in Atlantic City, NJ, tomorrow featuring colorful images of the letters L-O-V-E. The two versions include a 37-cent value for the basic First-Class letter rate, and a 60-cent value for the two-ounce rate. The stamps go on sale nationwide the following day, Aug. 17.

new 60-cent Love stamp The Love stamps are popular for sending wedding announcements, greeting cards and other personal correspondence. The stamps are being issued at STAMPSHOW 2002, the annual convention of the American Philatelic Society, which continues through Sunday at the new Convention Center in Atlantic City. The four new Teddy Bear commemorative stamps are being issued there today on opening day.

A special second-day stamp ceremony for the new Teddy Bear stamps will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Garden Court at the St. Louis (MO) Galleria. The stamps commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Teddy Bear, and a special postmark will be available for the event.

The USPS Gateway District and the St. Louis-based Build-A-Bear Workshop will conduct the ceremony, followed by a project for children to write and mail letters to celebrate National Friendship Week (Aug. 18-24) and promote the USPS Wee Deliver in-school literacy program.

ANOTHER GOOD DEED. Carrier Ricky Hatfield was called to aid a customer who was choking. He administered the Heimlich maneuver to save the man's life, according to a recent article in the Northville (MI) Record.
