Postal News FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 25, 2002 Contact: (202) 268-2155 Release No. 02-056 U.S. Postal Service Awards Advertising Contract To Campbell-Ewald Agency WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. Postal Service today announced that it will award its advertising contract to the Campbell-Ewald Agency of Detroit, MI. The 91-year-old agency will be joined by Draft Worldwide and form a single entity which will be totally dedicated to the Postal Service account. Campbell-Ewald will be the lead creative agency and the team will be based in the agency's Detroit headquarters. The agency was selected after a three-month review that began with 21 agencies. Campbell-Ewald/Draft Worldwide team emerged as the choice after "a thorough process and weighing every factor to ensure that the Postal Service was making the best choice," Larry Speakes, Manager of Postal Advertising, said. "The competition for our account was intense and we saw some excellent work. In the end, we were convinced that this team has what we needed. "The major goal of the solicitation process was to consolidate responsibility in a single agency instead of spreading work over four agencies as we had been doing. That will provide continuity across all aspects of our account, and, at the same time, result in substantially reducing costs," said Speakes. The three multicultural agencies—Bravo Group; The Chisholm-Mingo Group Inc.; and A Partnership Inc.—will continue with the Postal Service. "The expertise these groups bring are important to us," said Speakes. Campbell-Ewald is the nation's ninth largest advertising and marketing network, with more than 1,200 employees at its headquarters, their agency in Los Angeles, and five regional offices. Billings in 2001 totaled $2 billion and the agency was recognized as Adweek's "Midwest Agency of the Year." A part of The Interpublic Group of Companies, it includes Chevrolet, Michelin, United States Navy, ACDelco, and Pier 1 Imports. # # #
