USPS working with law enforcement agencies on Boca Raton cases

PMG Jack Potter has responded to news reports speculating about the source of the anthrax bacteria that persons in Boca Raton, FL, were exposed to. News reports say investigators are looking at several possible ways, including by letter, that the bacteria could have entered the building where the victims worked.

Potter said the Postal Inspection Service is working with other law enforcement agencies and will do everything possible to assist in a complete and successful investigation of the Boca Raton incident.

Potter reiterated that the Postal Service is taking every precaution to assure the safety and security of its employees and the mail. "The 800,000 men and women of the Postal Service take this responsibility very seriously," he said.

Potter pointed out that the Postal Service is a vital part of the infrastructure of the United States. "We help keep people in touch and are an important element in moving the economy," he said. "It is critical that the United States Postal Service continue to provide this important public service to the people of America - today and long into the future. And we will."
