Plans to broadcast open session
U.S. POSTAL SERVICE BOARD OF GOVERNORS TO MEET IN WASHINGTON, DC, NOVEMBER 5-6, 2001

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Board of Governors of the U.S. Postal Service will conduct its monthly meeting in Washington, DC, at Postal Service headquarters located at 475 L'Enfant Plaza, SW, on Monday and Tuesday, November 5-6, 2001. While the Monday meeting is in closed session, the public may attend Tuesday's session from an observational perspective only.

Due to overwhelming media interest in covering Tuesday's open session, the Board plans to provide live broadcast coverage via satellite uplink. Satellite and frequency information will be provided in a separate media advisory as soon as that information becomes available. Tuesday's open session is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Ben Franklin Room on the 11th floor. The Board expects to discuss the matters listed in the agenda below.

  1. Minutes of the previous meetings, October 1-2 and October 22, 2001.

  2. Remarks of the Postmaster General/Chief Executive Officer.

  3. Report from the Chief Postal Inspector. (Ken Weaver)

  4. Human Resources/Report from the Surgeon General.
    (Suzanne Medvidovich, senior vice president, Human Resources)

  5. Report on Operations and Service.
    (Pat Donahoe, chief operating officer and executive vice president, and Anita Bizzoto, chief marketing officer)

  6. Report on equipment for handling hazardous materials.

  7. Report on finances.
    (Richard J. Strasser Jr., chief financial officer and executive vice president)
