Two million tablets of Cipro on the way
POSTMASTER GENERAL ACCEPTS DELIVERY FROM BAYER CORPORATION

WASHINGTON, DC - Postmaster General and CEO John E. Potter today accepted the donation of two million tablets of the antibiotic Cipro from Bayer Corporation President and CEO Helge H. Wehmeier. The medication was donated to the U.S. government and is intended for use by federal employees and any others who might need it.

The medication will be administered through federal health care agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control, and local and state health care officials in the Washington, DC, area.

"We greatly appreciate the support from companies like the Bayer Corporation as we fight this home-front battle against terrorism," said Potter. "The outpouring of generosity has proven to all of us in the Postal Service that we stand united. From red, white and blue ribbons on mailboxes to this reassuring donation, we know we have the support of the American public."

Shipment of the medication will begin next week, at which time health officials will announce details of its distribution.
