IMPROVING CROSS-BORDER MAIL SERVICES

The U.S. Postal Service and the Servicio Postal Mexicano (SEPOMEX) have signed an agreement to improve mail services between the United States and Mexico.

USPS has agreed to assist SEPOMEX in efforts to transform its management structure and processes and re-engineer its operations. SEPOMEX has agreed to collaborate with USPS in exploring and developing joint business opportunities and improving cross-border services.

“USPS and SEPOMEX are very pleased with the agreement,” said Paul Vogel, USPS managing director of Global Business and senior vice president. “It sets a framework for us to work more closely together, collaborating on improvements that will benefit customers in both of our countries.”

DIVERSITY RECOGNIZED

Hispanic Business magazine named the Postal Service one of the best companies for Hispanics.

The Postal Service is the only federal agency included in the magazine’s Diversity Elite 60, an annual directory of the best companies for Hispanics determined by more than 30 variables that measure a company’s commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, marketing, philanthropy and supplier diversity.

Hispanic Business notes that the Postal Service is not only delivering the nation’s mail, “but also a commitment to diversity within the huge organization, with suppliers and throughout the communities it serves.”

FAST FOR PERIODICALS

FAST for Periodicals is here!
Effective Sept. 4, all Periodicals mailers are directed to schedule appointments in FAST. All postal facilities have been advised that software vendors are delayed in supporting the printing of appointment numbers on PS Form 8125, Plant-Verified Drop Shipment (PVDS) Verification and Clearance.

Periodicals drop shipments arriving without an appointment will be accepted as unscheduled arrivals after Periodicals mailers who have an appointment. Periodicals will be accepted any time a facility is open and staffed according to the hours of operation shown on the facility profile in FAST.
