OPPORTUNITY FOR THE 21ST CENTURY

A MESSAGE FROM THE POSTMASTER GENERAL

Timing is everything, and MailPro is making its debut at an auspicious moment in the history of the United States Postal Service. A new law, called the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act, was passed by Congress and signed by the President last month. It’s the first major change to the Postal Service since 1971.

This new law could not have come at a better time. The Postal Service has never been stronger and this law enables us to build on our successes.

What does this new postal law mean for customers? This new publication will be an ideal vehicle to answer that question. The cover story for this first issue of MailPro focuses on the new law and how it will benefit both residential and business customers by keeping mail affordable for everyone. In future issues, MailPro will continue to report on the law’s provisions and how it affects the mailing industry.

Of course, there’s much more that we’ll be talking about in MailPro. We’ll provide news that business mailers can use. Look for details about the current rate case and shape-based pricing. We’ll fill you in on the proposal to make international products easier to use. When there are advances in Intelligent Mail services, you’ll get updates — like the story that appears in this issue. We’ll share the successes of customers who are using Postal Service products and services to build their businesses. And much more.

We’ve transformed our publications to help you save time and keep you better informed about developments that affect your business. And we’ll keep transforming as an organization to keep providing excellent service at affordable prices.
