A message from Chief Marketing Officer Anita Bizzotto
This Mailers Companion highlights some of the important changes that are part of the price proposal we recently filed with the Postal Rate Commission. It is our first proposal in nearly five years to realign classifications and prices.
As you read through the highlights, you’ll see that we proposed new initiatives and new price incentives. We also add convenience through a Forever Stamp and by making the successful flat-rate box a permanent part of the Priority Mail lineup.
You’ll see that we are moving toward shape-base pricing, particularly in First-Class Mail, where we have proposed separate prices for letters, flats, and parcels. A benefit of moving toward shape is less emphasis on weight, resulting in lower prices than today’s for letters over 1 ounce and flats over 6 ounces. In Standard Mail we increase incentives for drop shipping and introduce a new destination delivery unit price for parcels.
We also want to reduce the cost of handling undeliverable-as-addressed mail. Our proposal reduces Address Change Service fees and introduces a new, lower-priced OneCode Address Change Service for First-Class Mail and Standard Mail letters.
I think you will see that we provide more opportunities than ever for mailers to find value in our products and services. By providing the right incentives today, we are all better positioned for growth in the future.
