FINAL DECISION UNDER THE DEBT COLLECTION ACT OF 1982

An Order dated May 20, 2008 directed Respondent to file an Answer to the Petition by June 9, 2008. When no Answer was filed, an Order dated June 13, 2008 stated that an Answer or other appropriate pleading must be received in this office by June 23, 2008, or the Petition may be granted without further notice.

Respondent then requested an extension of time, to June 30, 2008. That request was granted, by Order dated June 26, 2008. When still no Answer was filed, an Order dated July 9, 2008 stated that an Answer or other appropriate pleading must be received in this office by July 18, 2008.

Respondent received the July 9 Order on July 14, 2008, but has filed nothing further. Accordingly, the Petition is granted. Respondent may not withhold money from Petitioner’s salary to collect the alleged $130.00 debt. If any money has been withheld, it must be repaid to Petitioner.
