FINAL DECISION UNDER THE DEBT COLLECTION ACT OF 1982

A Notice of Docketing of Petition for each of these cases was issued on April 4, 2003.  Each Notice stated that an Answer was to be filed by the Postal Service on or about April 21, 2003.  These Notices were received by Respondent’s representative on April 10, 2003.

On April 25, 2003, no Answer having been filed, an Order was issued, stating that if Respondent intended to contest these cases an Answer or other appropriate pleading must be received in this office by May 5, 2003.  Respondent’s representative received that Order on May 1, 2003.

Respondent filed nothing.  By Order dated May 8, 2003, Respondent was directed to show cause by May 23, 2003 why these Petitions should not be granted based on Respondent’s failure to file a timely Answer.  Respondent’s representative received that Order on May 12, 2003.

Respondent filed nothing.  These two Petitions are granted.  Respondent may not collect money from Petitioner’s salary on account of the debts alleged in these cases.
