Victorian Love

These Victorian designs are offered in two denominations and are the first U.S. self-adhesive stamps die-cut to the shape of the images depicted. These stamps are particularly appropriate for wedding invitations and announcements, wedding RSVPs, Valentine's Day cards and other greetings of affection. The designs were created by collector and designer John Grossman and designer Holly Sudduth from Victorian artifacts. The floral heart is based on a valentine greeting card attributed to an unknown German artist, circa 1895. The background on the 33-cent design is derived from an American chocolate or biscuit paper-lace box liner, circa 1900. The background on the 55-cent design is based on English valentine paper lace, circa 1885.
