Position: City Carrier

Delivers and collects mail on foot or by vehicle providing customer service in a prescribed area.

Job Requirements

• Carriers may be required to carry mailbags on their shoulders that can weigh up to 35 pounds.
• Carriers have to load and unload trays, containers of mail, and parcels weighing up to 70 pounds.
• Carrier duties require prolonged standing, walking, and reaching.
• Must work outdoors in all types of weather.

Notes:

• City carrier applicants must have a current valid state driver’s license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of documented driving experience.
• Qualified applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening to meet the U. S. Postal Service's Employment Requirements. Applicants must also be a U. S. citizen or have lawful permanent resident alien status.
• Most new employees are paid an hourly rate and work a flexible schedule as required by the workflow.

3. Due to high call volumes, we recommend you apply online. Applying online will take approximately 2 minutes. Phone applications will take approximately 15 minutes.
4. After you have applied, you will be sent a package that includes the exam date, time and location, along with materials to help you prepare.
5. Take the exam. You must receive a passing score of 70 on the written examination to receive further employment consideration.
6. If you are determined to be qualified, you will continue the process for employment consideration.
