Once you’ve selected a mailpiece format, it’s time to choose designs that fit your message.
How Should I Design My Mailpiece?
Your Direct Mail piece must draw attention to your offer, and help your customer—the reader—understand what the offer is. Keep these tips in mind as you fashion your design:
Create a clean, simple layout. |
Allow only one visual element to dominate a page. |
Feature logos prominently. |
Use bullets or bold headers for the offer’s key elements. |
Make sure your customers know how to act on your offer (see Create Your Message). |

What Images Should I Use for My Mailpiece?
Use pictures or illustrations that demonstrate how enticing your offer is. They will also enhance the overall look of your Direct Mail piece. Here are some tips on using or finding images for your mailpieces:
Create a mood by using images that are related to your product or service, instead of an actual image of the product or service. |
Consider taking your own photos with a digital camera and uploading the images to your design program. |
Purchase stock photography for illustrations and photos, or download free images such as clip art. |
