440 Fair Labor Standards Act Administration
The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), as amended, is a federal statute of
general application which establishes requirements for: (a) child labor,
(b) minimum wage, (c) equal pay, and (d) overtime pay.
441.2 Enforcement
The FLSA authorizes the Department of Labor (DOL) to: (a) investigate for
compliance with provisions of the Act and (b) to supervise the payment of
unpaid wages or unpaid overtime compensation owing to any employee in
the event of violations. The Law also provides for enforcement in the courts.
