Williamstown Post Office Announces New Hours

WILLIAMSTOWN, WV — Because of declining mail volume and increased fuel prices, the Postal Service ended quarter 3 with a $1.1 billion dollar loss. As a result, USPS has implemented several strategies to try and offset the situation, including a revision of Post Office hours.

Beginning the week of October 2, the retail window at the Williamstown Post Office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, with no lunch closing.(Note: This is a later closing time) Thursday only, the office will close at noon. Mail delivery will be unaffected by the change.

“We are trying to find creative ways to offer service but stay within our budget,” said Postmaster D. Berylann Lewis. “This is a transitional time for us. However, we will continue to provide excellent service for our customers.”

Nearby offices with Thursday afternoon hours include Vienna Post Office, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and Waverly Post Office, 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and noon – 4:45 p.m.

The Postal Service also makes it quick, easy and convenient for customers to buy postage stamps online at www.usps.com, by phone, by fax and by filling out a Stamp by Mail order form available from Williamstown carriers and at the Williamstown Post Office. Stamps also are available from rural carrier, if you are on a rural delivery route.

“Rural carriers are like a Post Office on Wheels,” said Lewis. “We’re already in your neighborhood so let us save you time and gas by delivering stamps right to your door.”
