Still Haven't Paid Your Taxes?

You'll Be On Time With an April 15th Postmark

CLARKSBURG, WV — Time is running out for taxpayers who haven’t filed their 2007 federal or state income taxes. But have no fear — the Postal Service is here. The April 15 postmark is all you need to prove your taxes were paid on time.

On Tax Day, The Clarksburg Post Office, 500 Pike St., will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Final mail collection will be 5 p.m. As long as your letter to the IRS or state tax agency is dropped in the collection box or presented at the Post Office by 5 p.m., it will receive the all-important April 15 postmark.

The East Point Post Office, 200 Cava Drive, will be open from 8:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Customers have until midnight to deposit their mail in the East Point lobby or outside collection box to assure an April 15 postmark.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
