Postal Service Honors Randy Moss

Football Star Scores With Commemorative Envelope

CHARLESTON, WV – New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss has set several NFL records during his distinguished football career including one for the most touchdown receptions (23) in a regular season.

The West Virginia native will be celebrating another career milestone when the U.S. Postal Service issues a commemorative envelope to mark his many football achievements.

Charleston Mayor Danny Jones will make a presentation to Moss on March 21 during a ceremony at the Capitol Complex Cultural Center, 1900 Kanawha Blvd. East.

At the 2 p.m. event, Appalachian District Manager Karen Schenck also will make a presentation to Moss in honor of his status as an athlete and West Virginia native.

“Randy Moss is to football what Tiger Woods is to golf,” said Schenck. “The Postal Service wanted to honor Mr. Moss, so we designed a commemorative envelope as a fitting tribute to his many talents.”

The envelope illustrates the former Marshall University football star donning a Wave Cap and lists his career and 2007 season statistics. Included on each envelope will be a cancelled First-Class stamp featuring a New England Patriots helmet. Only 5,000 envelopes will be printed.

Envelopes will be sold for $6 on the day of the event and also will be available at several Appalachian District Post Offices while supplies last.
