Help Stamp Out Hunger!
Fond du Lac letter carriers to hold special food drive to restock local pantries
FOND DU LAC, WI—Members of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Local #125 and the Wisconsin Rural Letter Carrier’s Association (RLCA), with help from other employees and volunteers, will conduct an additional “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive on August 23 in the Fond du Lac ZIP Code area 54935 through 54937. The carriers are providing this service on a voluntary basis.
The carriers at the Fond du Lac Post Office are supporting a special food drive this year because of the urgent need to re-supply food pantries serving the community. Food supplies were destroyed during the recent record flooding at three of the city’s four food pantries. Customers who wish to donate can simply place their food items in a bag and place it near their mailbox.
“There is a great need for the people of Fond du Lac to support this special food drive, “ says Dean Krueger, Fond du Lac Post Office Officer-in-Charge. “Our food pantries report record numbers of men, women and children seeking assistance due to the impact of the downturn in the economy and the flooding. The food drive is an excellent opportunity to partner with our customers to help those most in need.”
