Postal Service all Fired Up for 100-Year Celebration

ARLINGTON, WI—The United States Postal Service is helping this Central Wisconsin community commemorate a historic milestone.

The Arlington, WI Post Office is providing a special pictorial cancellation to mark the 100th anniversary of the Arlington Volunteer Fire Department for those attending the Fireman’s Festival on Saturday, August 8, 2009. According to Postmaster Rhoda Kapugi, having this special postmark applied to an envelope with a stamp is a great keepsake of this special occasion.

A variety of stamps – Forever, Bob Hope, Lighthouse, and The Simpson stamps, plus First Class postage-paid envelopes and postcards, and blank envelopes and picture postcards – will be available on-site from the Post Office staff.

The special postmark is a must-have for stamp collectors as well as individuals who would like a souvenir of the 100-year celebration. But you don’t have to attend to get one. The Postmark can be obtained by mail for 30 days after the event, also. To request by mail, affix First-Class postage to an envelope or postcard of your choice, using a stamp of your choice with a 44 cent value. Place in a larger envelope (along with a large self-addressed stamped envelope for the return trip) and send to:
