Katherine Nash named Manager of Postal Service’s Seattle District

SEATTLE — Katherine S. Nash, a 29-year veteran of the Postal Service and former Postmaster of Seattle, has been named District Manager of the Seattle District, which includes most of western Washington and extends into central Washington as far as Moses Lake.

The Seattle District serves almost five million customers, has annual mail volume of more than four billion pieces, and produces revenue approaching $1 billion, with about 11,900 employees.

Nash began her postal career as a Letter Carrier in Renton WA and has served in numerous management positions including Postmaster of Kent WA and Acting Postmaster in Colorado Springs CO and Las Vegas NV.  She also spent time as acting District Manager of the Mid-America District based in Kansas City MO.

“I am very excited to be selected to lead the Seattle District,” Nash said.  “The Seattle District has always been among the top performers in the country and I expect that tradition to continue. I am confident the dedicated, hard-working employees in this district will continue to provide the level of service our customers have come to expect and deserve.”

Nash is a graduate of the Postal Service’s Advanced Leadership Program and completed the University of Washington’s School of Business Executive program.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
