Mailing Your Tax Return

Spokane, WA — Mailing your tax return this year? If you're waiting until April 15 to mail, the Spokane Post Office offers these mailing tips.

If taxes are ready to mail, all collection boxes and Post Office locations have the last collection time clearly marked. To mail after the latest listed time customers must use the collection boxes at the USPS mail processing center located at 2928 S Spotted Road which will be accepting mail until midnight. Forms and postage are not available at the mail processing center.

If you're planning a visit to the Post Office and wish to use certified mail, have your documents and envelope ready. The certified and return receipt forms are available in the lobby for completion before getting to the counter to expedite your visit.

A credit or debit card can be used at an Automated Postal Center (APC, listed below) to mail a certified letter. Mail postmarked by the APC still must be deposited by the last collection time posted. Check www.usps.com for Contract Postal Units in your area which provide postal services at postal prices. Peak postal hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visiting the Post Office at non-peak times will result in a worry-free visit.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
