Express Mail Service Deadline
Last chance for holiday gifts to arrive by Christmas
MERRIFIELD, VA – Today’s the last day to remind customers to use Express Mail if they want their holiday gifts to arrive by Christmas!
Express Mail has benefits the competition can’t touch. The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) delivers to mail receptacles and P.O. Boxes, so packages get where they’re going securely. And, unlike other carriers, the USPS never charges for fuel, for Saturday delivery, for rural delivery or for residential delivery. That means customers know the cost up front when they send packages to friends and loved ones — an especially strong selling point in a tightening economy.
“This is the busiest time of year for us, and a busy time for our customers, too,” said Michael S. Furey, Northern Virginia District Manager. “Letting our customers know about the benefits that are built in to the great service we’re already giving them is a bit of good news during an otherwise hectic time of year.”
To accommodate postal customers during the busy holiday season, retail lobby hours have been extended at select locations throughout the Northern Virginia District.
“During the busiest time of year, we know that customers want more choice and convenience,” said
Furey. “With the holidays just around the corner, the Postal Service provides more options for your last-minute shipping needs than anyone else.”
All Post Office locations will close at 12 noon on Wednesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 31 except the following offices which will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on both days:
- Alexandria Main Post Office
- Fairfax Chantilly Branch
- Merrifield Post Office
- Winchester Main Post Office
All Post Office locations will be closed on Thursday, December 25 and Thursday, January 1, 2009.
Be sure to note the extended retail hours being offered for your mailing convenience.
