Military, International and Domestic Holiday Mailing Deadlines Near

Large Priority Mail Flat Price Box Discount Proves Popular for APO/FPO Shipping

HAMPTON ROADS, VA — Mailing deadlines for Christmas delivery of cards and packages to overseas service members, several foreign countries and domestic (U.S.) addresses are fast approaching.

Dec. 11 is the deadline for Priority Mail and First-Class letters and cards to non-war zone APO/FPO ZIP Codes as well as international mail addressed to Asia, Australia, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, Mexico and the Middle East.  The Postal Service provides a $2 discount on its Large Priority Mail Flat Rate Box going to APO/FPO destinations.

Dec. 20 is the recommended mailing deadline for domestic Priority Mail and First-Class cards and letters, including U.S. territories.

For last minute mailers, Dec. 18 is the Express Mail Military Service deadline.  Express Mail International and Global Express Guaranteed mailing dates range from Dec. 12 through Dec. 22, so mailers should check with their local Post Office or online at www.usps.com for additional information and mailing guidelines.  Dec. 23 is the mailing deadline for domestic Express Mail.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
