Montpelier Station Post Office Closing For Renovations

Postal Services Will Be Provided By Somerset Post Office

MONTPELIER STATION — Bobby Abernethy, Mountain Area Manager, Post Office Operations, reminded Montpelier Station Post Office customers that services at the office would be temporarily suspended while the facility housing the post office is renovated.

“Beginning Wednesday, May 28, Montpelier Station Post Office customers can pick up their mail at Somerset Post Office, about four miles away,” said Abernethy.  Customers had been notified of the operational changes in a letter from Abernethy, and were also advised that filing a change of address would not be required although Post Office Box service, and retail services, would be provided through the Somerset Post Office.  Abernethy said service would be seamless if box holders used their post office box number and the Montpelier Station ZIP Code of 22957.

Somerset Post Office, 14257 Blue Ridge Turnpike, is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 12 noon, and Saturdays from 8 to 11 am.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
