WHERE Newport News Post Office - Green is responsible for 290 employees, in seven Post Offices and three retail units providing delivery, collection and retail services to 83,863 residential and business addresses, as well as 7091 Post Office Boxes.

BACKGROUND:

Mr. Green began his career with the U.S. Postal Service in 1976 as a City Letter Carrier in Tampa, Florida. After leaving the Postal Service in 1990 to return to school fulltime, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Government and Politics with a minor in Economics and Philosophy as well as a Master's degree in International Relations and Public Administration. Green returned to the Postal Service in 1994 as a City Letter Carrier in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and progressed through various management and Postmaster positions in Florida, Colorado and Virginia, with his most recent Postmaster position in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Prior to his appointment as Postmaster, Newport News, Green had been the Officer-in-Charge since January 21, 2007.

It relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. USPS has annual revenues of $73 billion and delivers more than 46 percent of the world's mail volume.
