The Post Office will celebrate the 2007 Salt Lake City Deaflympics with a special postmark. The postmark will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at a temporary Post Office in the main exhibit hall of the Salt Palace Convention Center, located at 100 South West Temple.
“We are happy to commemorate the 2007 Deaflympics with a special postmark,” said Salt Lake Postmaster Scott Norris. “It’s an inexpensive souvenir of this great event.”
The special postmark features the words 16th Winter Deaflympics, Salt Lake 2007. There is no charge for the postmark, although it may only be applied to an envelope or item with First-Class postage attached. Winter Olympic postage stamps will be available to purchase at the temporary Post Office, where a postal clerk knowledgable in sign language will assist customers.
Customers may also receive the Deaflympics Postmark through the mail. Customers should affix the stamps to envelopes of their choice, address the envelopes (to themselves or others), and place them in a larger envelope addressed to: Deaflympics Postmark, 1760 W 2100 S, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84199-9655. After applying the postmark, the Postal Service will return the envelopes through the mail. There is no charge for the postmark. Requests must be postmarked no later than March 5, 2007.
