It’s a No-Brainer; Online Shipping Saves Money, Gas, and Time

Utah Post Offices to Inform Customers of Ease, Convenience of USPS.com

SALT LAKE CITY , UT — What business or individual doesn’t enjoy saving time and money, especially in these tough economic times? Here’s an opportunity. A postal employee will be in the lobby of every Utah Post Office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., March 25, to greet customers and inform them how they can buy stamps, ship packages, request a free package pickup, and order free shipping supplies, all from their computer. It’s all part of USPS.com Week at Utah Post Offices, March 23 – 27.

“The Postal Service has more than 200 retail locations in Utah, but it’s the one on your computer that is likely the most convenient, and the least expensive,” said Salt Lake Postmaster Scott Norris. “USPS.com shipping prices are lower than if you were to come to the Post Office, and you can do it from the comfort of your home or business. When you also consider the time and gas savings, and speed of delivery — it’s a no-brainer.”

Virtually all of the services of a Post Office are available at USPS.com. Take advantage of online mailing discounts of up to 11 percent using Click-N-Ship where you can print Express Mail, Priority Mail and International shipping labels and pay for postage using any major credit card. Up to $500 of insurance is available, and customers can request a free pickup of those packages by their letter carrier the next day. Delivery Confirmation, a 65-cent value, is free when mailing online.

The Postal Service offers four sizes of free eco-friendly flat-rate boxes that take the weight and distance out of mailing. The flat-rate boxes are available at any Post Office, by phone at 1-800-527-1950, and online at usps.com/shop.

At USPS.com customers can also buy stamps, track a package, hold mail, submit a change of address, find a ZIP Code, and much more.

Businesses, large and small, interested in learning more about USPS.com services, can schedule an onsite visit by a postal representative by calling 801-974-2500.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 149 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes, six days a week. It has 34,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services, not tax dollars, to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
