Galveston Main Post Office to be Fully Reoccupied Dec. 15
Temporary site in La Marque to close
Houston, TX — Postal officials announced today that the Galveston Main Post Office will reoccupy the facility and resume all delivery and retail services from within the Federal Building site effective Monday, December 15.
All retail service and Post Office Box service for customers served through the Galveston Main Post Office will transition from portable buildings located adjacent to the facility back into the Federal Building.
Mail pickup and delivery operations currently operating from the temporary site at 14057 Delaney Street in La Marque will also transition to the Galveston Main Post Office facility on December 15. The Delaney Street facility will cease all operations effective December 14.
The Galveston Main Post Office is located in the Federal Building at 601 25th Street. Hours of operation will be 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
The facility was damaged as a result of Hurricane Ike and underwent extensive repairs. The Galveston Main Post Office provides retail service, Post Office Box service, and mail delivery operations for ZIP Codes 77550, 77553, and 77555.
Retail service and Post Office Box service for customers served through the Bob Lyons Station Post Office transitioned from portable buildings located onsite back into the facility on November 17. Delivery operations will transition from the portable buildings located onsite back into the Bob Lyons Station by January 15.
Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday - Friday, and from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday. Located at 5826 Broadway, Bob Lyons Station serves ZIP Codes 77551, 77552, and 77554.
In addition, retail service is available to Jamaica Beach residents at the Compu-Place Contract Postal Unit (CPU), conveniently located at 16708 Termini Rd, Suite P. The Compu-Place CPU is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Friday, and from 9 a.m. - Noon Saturday.
