Post Offices Open for Business Today in Beaumont metro area

Houston, TX — With the lifting of a mandatory evacuation order this morning, postal officials are providing services for customers throughout the Beaumont metropolitan area today (ZIP Code areas 776 and 777).

All post offices in the area, including the Beaumont Main Post Office and the Beaumont Mail Processing Center at 5815 Walden Road, are open for full retail and Post Office Box services today.

Mail delivery service throughout the area will continue uninterrupted for many area residents, depending on the availability of delivery personnel, some of whom evacuated the area.

Postal Service employees throughout the Beaumont-Galveston-Houston area worked hard over the past five days to secure the mail, postal facilities and equipment in advance of the projected arrival of Hurricane Gustav.

Postal Service employees in the area are being advised to report for work today as scheduled. Employees should call the toll-free USPS National Emergency Notification Hotline at: 1-888-363-7462 for full instructions.

Additional updates regarding postal operations in the Beaumont area will be issued by the U.S. Postal Service as information becomes available.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
