Post Office dedicated to Marine Master Sergeant Kenneth N. Mack
FORT WORTH, TX —On May 7, 2008 Public Law 110-216, sponsored by Congressman Kay Granger was approved designating the Post Office building located at 3701 Altamesa Blvd as the Master Sergeant Kenneth N. Mack Post Office Building. On Friday, August 8, 2008, Congressional representatives, joined by members of the Mack Family, U.S. Postal Service officials, Fort Worth officials, and members of the community will unveil the plaque designating the building in honor of Marine Corps Master Sergeant Kenneth N. Mack.
Kenneth Mack was born on December 18, 1964, to Thomas and Mahalia Mack. He participated in football at the high school he attended in Germany before moving to Fort Worth in 1980, where he attended Arlington Heights High School. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1982 and began employment with the U. S. Postal Service in 1988.
In 1991, Kenneth received orders for Desert Storm in Iraq. The Marine Corps Reserves required Kenny’s service once again in 2005, when he was called to service in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He returned home in February 2006. Kenny was redeployed in March 2007and made the ultimate sacrifice when he died in Khalidiyah, Iraq, on May 5, 2007.
When the resolution was on the House floor, Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) said, “I think it bears underlining how much the armed services of the United States today is made up of the post office, civil servants, first responders, often needed at home, but always willing to go where their country needs them.”
“Postal employees touch lives throughout this country each and every day. It’s an honor to recognize one of ours who has paid the ultimate price in foreign lands to ensure the freedoms that all Americans enjoy,” said acting Fort Worth Postmaster, Michael Holder.
M/Sgt Mack served two tours in Iraq and was awarded a Purple Heart.# # #
