Postal Service Searching For Local Business Partners

Requesting Offers By April 4, 2008

KELLER, TX —The U.S. Postal Service is searching for local business owners and entrepreneurs in the Keller Area with a desire to:

  • Increase customer traffic
  • Increase sales
  • Increase customer satisfaction

Business owners can do all three by providing postal products and services to their customers with a Contract Postal Unit located within their business. The Postal Service provides the signage, counters, equipment, and training.  Business owners provide the space and employees, and keep a percentage of sales from most postal products and services sold.

Local business owners can take advantage of a unique income opportunity. Criteria for partnership includes:

  • Need approximately 12 x 12 square feet available within your business
  • Cannot offer private mailbox service or competitive products and services
  • Handicap accessibility — parking and ramp access nearby

The more Postal products and services sold, the more contract postal units earn through the Postal Service’s percentage-based compensation plan. Managers of Contract Postal Units report many customers, who come into their business to purchase stamps and mail packages, often purchase other items offered in their stores. Business will benefit from increased business sales and new business customers.

If you are interested in this opportunity please call Keller Postmaster Richard Bishop, at (817) 431-6231, or U.S. Postal Service Fort Worth District Retail Specialist and Contract Postal Unit Coordinator Sandra Edwards, at (817) 317-2727. The Postal Service requests all interested businesses submit their applications no later than April 4, 2008.

It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
