Buda Post Office To Hold Grand Opening, Nov. 10

BUDA, TX—The public is cordially invited to attend the grand opening and dedication ceremony for the new Buda Post Office, on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The dedication ceremony will begin at 1 p.m.

U.S. Congressman Lloyd Doggett will serve as keynote speaker for the official dedication, and will be joined by Rio Grande District Manager Manuel Arguello, Buda Postmaster Frank Cadena, and other Postal Service officials and representatives of the community.

The new Buda Post Office opened its doors to the public on Sept. 28.

Located at 1320 Cabela's Dr., the 3,500-square-foot building is situated on approximately 3.5 acres. The new Post Office offers 30 customer parking spaces, more than twice the 14 parking spaces available at the old Post Office facility. The new Post Office has 1,208 PO boxes, compared to 1,164 at the old Post Office. The new Post Office is located about one mile from the old Post Office.

"The move is necessary because of significant population growth since the current Post Office was completed," said Buda Postmaster Frank Cadena.

The Buda Post Office is one of more than 37,000 Postal Service facilities across the nation. The Buda Post Office has 24 employees. In Buda they deliver mail to 7,184 families and businesses in the 78610 ZIP code area.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 26th in the 2008 Fortune 500.
