Waco Post Office to host Breast Cancer Awareness Event, Oct. 20

WACO, TX—As part of October's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, on Tuesday, Oct. 20 the Waco Post Office will join with the American Cancer

Breast Cancer stamp
Society, the Susan G. Komen Foundation and The Breast Cancer Center at Hillcrest at Waco's Woodway Station Post Office, 430 W. State Hwy. 6, for an all day event to raise awareness and promote Breast Cancer Research Semi-postal stamp sales.

Representatives from the various sponsor organizations will be available in the Woodway Station Post Office lobby throughout the day to provide visitors breast cancer information and answer related questions.

Postmaster David Sanderson encourages everyone to purchase and use Breast Cancer Awareness stamps to show their support for this worthy cause, not only in October, but throughout the year.

Since its July 29, 1998 inception, more than 864.6 million Breast Cancer Semipostal Stamps have been sold to raise more than $67.6 million for research. The National Institutes for Health receives 70 percent of the proceeds and the Department of Defense breast cancer research program receives the remaining 30 percent of the proceeds. The stamp costs 55 cents and is valid as a 44-cent stamp. The additional 11 cents charged for each stamp is directed to research at NIH and Defense.
