Wichita Falls Main Post Office hosting passport fair Saturday, August 15

WICHITA FALLS, TX — The Wichita Falls Main Post Office, 1000 Lamar St., is hosting a Passport Fair on Saturday, August 15, 2009 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM to provide passport information to U.S. citizens and to accept passport applications.

As of June 1, 2009, U.S. citizens sixteen and older must present a passport book, passport card, or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land borders and sea ports of entry. A passport book is required for all U.S. citizens that travel by air outside of the country.

Applicants will need to bring a valid photo ID, a photocopy of the front and back of the ID, proof of citizenship and 2 identical photos (2X2) if not purchasing on site. All applicants must appear in person (including minors).

FEES
Payable to the US Dept of State by check or money order:
Passport Book -$75. Adults/ $60. Children (under 16)
Passport Card - $20. Adults/ $10. Children (under 16)
Plus
Payable to Postmaster by check, money order or cash:
USPS Execution Fee - $25.
Passport Photos (if taken by USPS) - $15.

“We are happy to leverage the convenience of the Postal Service and partner with the Department of State to help our customers apply for passports,” said Wichita Falls Postmaster Linda Norwood.

U.S. citizens may also obtain passport information by phone, in English and Spanish, by calling the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 1.877.487.2778.

In 2008, the Postal Service accepted 8.5 million passport applications.
