Dallas, TX — The U.S. Postal Service has recognized Heritage Auction Galleries with its Strategic Business Development Award for the company’s commitment to a successful business partnership with the Postal Service. A select group of Postal customers is acknowledged and recognized for their contributions to the continued success of the mailing industry at the annual National Postal Forum.

The Strategic Business Development Award is one of three “best in class” awards presented annually at the Forum. It recognizes customers who are innovators in their specific industries. They embrace new technologies and implement best practices to improve efficiency and productivity in their mail operations. They're always working to improve their operations and provide customers with a mail product that delivers increased value and business results. And the mailing industry benefits overall.

Heritage Auction Galleries produces high-end catalogs depicting bid items. Items offered in the catalog are the driving force that contributes to its auction sales. They include fine art, movie posters, jewelry, sports collectibles, ancient and world coins, political memorabilia, autographs, comics, currency, books, stamps, westerns and much more.

In 2007, Heritage wanted to reduce shipping costs while maintaining superior delivery, so the company called the Postal Service to evaluate its shipping options. The USPS support team revealed a customized packaging strategy to convert some of Heritage’s shipments to Priority Mail, which Heritage accepted.

This service change was a win-win for Heritage and the Postal Service. Heritage has indicated that Priority Mail shipments have consistently been in the one-to-two day delivery range, which is exceptional. For their innovative shipping method, Ellis Burgoyne, VP, Southwest Area Operations, nominated Heritage.

“We are pleased to recognize and honor Heritage Auction Galleries for its innovation, creativity and leadership,” said Burgoyne. “By using a customized packaging strategy, the company improved their delivery times, which produced winning business results and supported the mailing industry.”

Additionally, Ron Brackemyre, vice president, Heritage Auction Galleries, accepted the award.

The National Postal Forum is the mailing industry’s premier educational venue, trade show and networking event for industry professionals. Since 1967, it has provided business mailers with ongoing training and education, and helped them keep pace with the mailing industry’s rapid growth.
