Grand Opening Set For Bristol Volunteer Station

New Post Office Offers Added Convenience

BRISTOL, TN — Looking for a convenient way to ship Express Mail and Priority Mail packages? Beginning Thursday June 12, Bristol residents will have a new postal facility to meet all their shipping needs.

The Bristol Volunteer Station, located in the Southgate Crossing Shopping Center, 1420 Volunteer Parkway, will hold its grand opening ceremony at 8:15 a.m. Bristol Mayor David Shumaker and council members Margaret Feierabend, James Messimer and Fred Testa will join postal officials for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“It took awhile, but we’re pleased to finally open this beautiful new facility,” said acting Bristol Postmaster Barry King. “We appreciate the patience and understanding of the community while construction was being completed and we look forward to serving all their postal needs.”

The new Volunteer Station, which replaces the old Stephen Holston branch, has two retail windows and will offer Post Office Boxes as well as plenty of parking. Retail window hours are Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Post Office Box lobby is open 24 hours.

“The entire community is invited to the ribbon-cutting and a tour of the Post Office,” said King. “We have a lot to celebrate.”

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
