Castalian Springs Post Office to re-open for customers

Although the Castalian Springs Post Office, 3070 Hartsville Pike, was totally destroyed by the Feb. 5 tornado, it will re-open in temporary quarters at the same location beginning Friday, February 22.

The Castalian Springs Post Office will re-open with full postal services, making use of a temporary trailer set up at the Hartsville Pike site. Hours of operation will be from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., closing for lunch between the hours of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. On Saturday, the office opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 11 a.m.

“It’s great to be able to offer full postal services to the community again,” said Castalian Springs Postmaster Judy Brewer. “We really care about the people here and we want to be here for them.”

Current Castalian Springs Post Office Box customers who were previously directed to the Gallatin Post Office may now pick up their mail at the Castalian Springs location.

Mail delivery, which continued the day after the violent weather hit, will continue for residents in the Castalian Springs area.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
