International Money Transfer, DineroSeguro® Now Available at Twelve South Carolina Post Offices

Electronic Secure Money Transfer Allows Receipt in Minutes

Beginning on Monday, December 8, 2008, Post Offices in South Carolina will expand DineroSeguro®, from seven to twelve stations, branches and post offices providing customers with an affordable, convenient and safe method of transferring money internationally. Customers can send up to $2,000 per transaction per day, available at 2,800 participating Post Offices across the U.S. Identification is required for transfers exceeding $1,000.  More sites will follow statewide in the near future.

The system uses secure, electronic wire transfers between the Postal Service and thousands of participating bank branch offices in destinating countries.  A time-saving system upgrade now provides for a quicker transaction. The recipient's funds are available within 15 minutes, guaranteed, and without hidden or additional fees.

Personal identification also is required for the recipients of funds in the participating countries. Recipients do not need bank accounts and pay no additional fees in their countries.

"Postal money orders have long been a preferred way for people to send money to friends and relatives internationally. Dinero Seguro provides an electronic alternative that reduces the time it takes to receive the funds from days to minutes," said Patricia Sullivan, Marketing Manager for the Greater South Carolina District.  “Customers in South Carolina will find Dinero Seguro to be a better service at a better price.”

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
