Delsenia Murchison receives Postmaster appointment in Darlington, SC

Effective June 21, 2008, Delsenia Murchison, Postmaster of Dillon, SC, will be promoted to the position of Postmaster of Darlington, SC. She will serve as the 44th Postmaster of the Darlington Post Office.

Delsenia began her Postal career in Raleigh in 1972 as a distribution clerk. After serving as Training Technician and taking some developmental assignments, she became Postmaster of Morrisville, NC in 1982. She then served as the Carolina District Women’s Program Coordinator in Charlotte prior to moving to Training and Development in Columbia, SC as a Supervisor 1986. Delsenia became the Manager of Training in Columbia in 1987, where she worked until becoming Postmaster of Dillon in 1999.

“After three opportunities serving as offices-in-charge, I’m delighted to finally, officially, be Postmaster in Darlington,” said Murchison. “Both customers and employees here have a great relationship and tradition of service that dates back to 1801. I’m looking forward to working with this team of top Postal professionals to give our community the best delivery and retail service possible.”

Delsenia earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education beginning with Shaw University and completing at St. Augustine College. She has also earned a Master of Arts Degree in Management from Webster University.

Her postal education is extensive and she has served successful Officer-In-Charge assignments in Dillon, SC, Florence, SC, Hartsville, Mt. Pleasant and Darlington. Delsenia also works closely with community programs such as the Pee Dee Alzheimer’s Association, Missions Ministry, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, St Augustine’s Alumni Association and Chaplain for the SC National Association of Postmasters, U. S. (NAPUS).
