Charleston Candle Cottage Closing Postal Unit in Mt. Pleasant

MT. PLEASANT — Due to business closure, the Charleston Candle Cottage, located at 401 W. Coleman Blvd., Suite A., Mt. Pleasant, S.C. has ceased operation of its Contract Postal Unit as of January 2nd. The Postal Service is actively re-soliciting local businesses for replacement.

In the interim, customers can find Postal retail services from a number of alternative sources: stamps may be purchased at face value at 16 businesses in Mt. Pleasant which offer stamps on consignment, including grocery and drug stores. Just look for the sign with the Postal logo at the business entrance. Specific locations may be found by using the Post Office locator at usps.com. Stamps may also be obtained online at usps.com, or by dialing 1-800-STAMP24.

Credit and debit card customers may use the Automated Postal Center (APC) on a 24/7 basis at the Mt. Pleasant Post Office, 1050 Johnnie Dodds Blvd.  The APC provides 80% of the services of the retail window unit, including:

  • Mailing and receiving packages, dispensing First-Class Mail, Priority Mail, Parcel Post®, Express Mail, and IBI postage in any denomination.
  • Dispenses First-Class Mail stamp sheetlets.
  • Provides Postal Service and mailing information, including ZIP Code lookup.
  • Weighs and rates envelopes, flats, and parcels up to 70 pounds.
  • Prepares Express Mail forms and Certified Mail return receipts.
  • Dispenses Insurance and Delivery Confirmation service.
  • Provides a system-generated receipt for payment.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars.
