Latta Postmaster, Rob Lesser recognized for sharing “good news” in community

Regular news contributions to Dillon Herald help keep Postal customers informed

Postmaster Rob Lesser of Latta has earned First Place in the Capital Metro Area’s “Good News Campaign” for 2008 for his contributions to “News from the U. S. Post Office”, a monthly Postmaster’s column in the Dillon Herald. Capital Metro Area is one of ten administrative areas in the nation, which includes the states from Washington, DC to South Carolina.

Dillon County Postmasters from Dillon, Little Rock, Sellers and Fork have also contributed to the column, which is the longest-running, continuously published postal news column in the Greater South Carolina District, ZIP Codes 290-6.

“News from the U. S. Post Office”, informs readers about local and national postal issues as well as new products and services and interesting facts. Lesser, who has served as Postmaster in Latta since 2004, and Postmaster Linda Sue Foxworth of Fork, are the major contributors of Postal information for the column.

“I’m very proud to have been selected for this honor,” said Lesser, “and I want to thank the Herald’s Editor, Betsy Finklea for allowing us to continue having a column, it is a great way to inform our community on the postal issues of which they need to be aware. Much is changing for the U. S. Postal Service in these difficult times, that’s why we are fortunate to have this tool to inform our customers.”
